Is it wrong?

dsc00379 Is it wrong?

Is it wrong to express devotion to a monitor?

Because right now, I am seriously in love.

My computer is 2 years old, and came with a 19 inch monitor.  I wasn’t unhappy with it, but I kept feeling like I could use even MORE real estate.  I contemplated a 2nd 19 inch monitor to match.  And nearly bought one several times, though I wonder now how I thought I was going to connect it?

But then.  Then, I became the owner of a 24 inch iMac at the shop,  and promptly decided that what I really needed at home was a 24 inch monitor.

Last night at Best Buy I almost bought one, it was an HP, looked like a return item that was about $150 less than full price.  I couldn’t quite justify it, though, and we went about the rest of our shopping.

Part of our excursion included a trip to Sam’s Club, where they had this baby.

It is 26 inches. TWENTY SIX INCHES.

And was the same price as the HP I almost bought.

So if it’s wrong to be in love with a monitor, I don’t want to know about it, because my Vizio monitor and I are a very happy together today.

never mind

easily paranoid girl took over the blog for a little while earlier and posted something that was a little too whiny and insecure.

i’ve thought better of it, and deleted her post.

thanks for the feedback on the issues with the comment boxes running into each other.  i think i’ve made it better, but i do have some more tweaking to do.  i’ve resized (and changed) some of the text, and need to tweak some more.

so anyway, those of you that do read through a blog reader, the site has been redesigned, so if you are interested in seeing what i’ve done, you’ll need to click through to the blog itself.

whether you comment or not, i do appreciate your readership.

the fact that it bothers me sometimes that people DON’T comment is MY problem, not yours.  i’m still working on controlling my reaction, something that will continue to be  lifelong struggle for me.

New look

newlook New look

I have some more tweaking to do, but I’m tackling my to-do list(!) and instead of just thinking about working on the new look for my website, I’ve actually gotten a lot of it done.

Drumroll please:

Wow.  I ended up with 172 entries in my quilt giveaway.  That included entries from the original post, entries on the quilt post, as well as a number of people that posted on their blogs.

Thank you to everyone that participated.  The sad part is that now I have all of these additional blogs to add to my list of daily reads.  When am I going to have time to blog???

I know, I know.  Get to the results, already.

My initial plan was to print names, and have one of the boys draw.  Well, for various reasons, that didn’t work out.   Instead what I did was dump everything to a spreadsheet, put it in reverse alphabetical order by first name, and then let random.org give me my random number.

In this case that number was 22.

So, lucky winner number 22 is…..

winner Drumroll please:

Congratulations, Shelley!!!  I’ll be in touch about the details, like…do you want me to finish the binding, or will you do it??? Oh, and where should I send it!

Giveaways are fun, look for more.  Except, maybe not an entire quilt like that anytime soon again.

Computers are cool

I know.  Last week I was bemoaning about how UNCOOL computers are.  But today, I just did something cool and geeky and fun, and it makes me like computers again.  For the moment.

note from me Computers are cool

Of course, I couldn’t let my brother-in-law have something cooler than me, so I had to go do my own.  I suspect that his handwriting is nicer than mine, but don’t tell him I said that.

To get your OWN handwriting font, you have to go to http://www.yourfonts.com and follow the instructions.  You have to print a form that you write your letters on, scan it, upload it to their website, and then in just a few minutes it generates your very own font.  I have even have my signature , though I need to go figure out how to get that…hmmm.

I’m up to something like 162 entries in the drawing for the quilt…just 3 more hours until I close it and we draw!

What I did while my blog was on vacation

1.  Spent way too much time checking to see if my blog and e-mail and other websites were BACK from vacation.

2.  Played Pathwords on Facebook.

3.  Tried to quilt a finish quilting a quilt that I’m having trouble with (choosing a design, the fabric is super-busy and I don’t know what to do.  Didn’t know what to do.  I figured it out, but now I have to execute).

4.  Cut out the pieces for two quilts and started piecing one of them.  Almost finished piecing the one, actually.  I squishy-heart-love checkerboards and churn dash blocks.  Pictures later…

5.  Spent way too much time checking to see if my blog and e-mail and other websites were BACK from vacation.

6.  Ate way too many Hershey kisses while checking to see…

7.  Did a radio interview.  More about my 10 minutes of fame later…

8.  Started reading my new books.

9.  Spent way too much time checking to see if my blog and e-mail and other websites were BACK from vacation.

10.  Tried to teach Joe how to crochet.  He decided he preferred knitting.  Maybe because he enjoyed reading Franklin Habit’s book so much:

Looking for the giveaway quilt?  There’s still time to sign up and spread the word, scroll down or click here.  I’m extending the deadline until Monday, since it was kinda hard for people to sign up when the site was down.

Thwarted again

Seriously.

I had no idea the server upgrade would take ALL.DAY.LONG.

But, it seems that I am back in business, finally.

And I’m in such a rotten mood that I’m not going to say anything else.

As my mama said “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.”

Because of the downtime, I’m going to extend the deadline to enter my quilt giveaway until MONDAY at 4PM CST.

Make sure you scroll down for all of the scoop.

Thwarted Blogger

Good lord, do you know how many amazing blog posts I have written in my head today, that I was unable to share with you because my websites were down?

You’ll never know, because I’ve pretty much forgotten everything in the swirl of bad words floating around in my head.

Darned computers.  Who needs ‘em?
