Updated: January 31, 2010: giveaway is now over, go here for the results.
What’s the occasion?
I’m celebrating 1000+ blog posts, and starting a clearance sale to reduce the inventory in my small retail shop. The online shop will be staying open, but the brick and mortar version will be closing this spring. For more information, you can visit this post.
The prizes:
- 1 (one) grand prize winner, drawn at random from all entries, will receive their choice of a 100 fat quarter collection (chosen by me) or a yarn collection (chosen in conjunction with the winner) valued at $125 (full retail value)
5 (five) additional random winners will receive a Baker’s Dozen fat quarter collection (that’s 13 fat quarters, chosen by me) or yarn of their choice that totals $15 retail.
How to enter:
- Two entries for commenting on this blog post. (edited to add: if, for some reason, you are unable to comment, send me an e-mail: suzanne at suzanneearley dot net, and I’ll throw you into the mix.)
- Two entries for posting about the giveaway and my sale on your blog (you need to send me a link via e-mail so I can verify). (There’s a sample link code at the bottom of the post and you can cut and paste!) (edited to add: Facebook posts or tweets on Twitter are valid ways to enter, too.)
- Two entries for every $5 spent in the Knots & Bolts online store (shipping included).
More Details:
Obviously, no purchase is necessary to enter. Entries will be accepted until midnight CST on January 30, 2010, winners will be selected by random drawing and announced some time on Sunday, January 31, 2010. Make sure I have a way to contact you!
The Sale:
All yarn and fabric at Knots & Bolts is 30% off. In about 3 weeks, I’ll be marking it down further, and you are welcome to wait for even lower prices, but once fabric and yarn is gone, it’s gone, no reorders. I’ll do my best to keep the online stock up to date, but if something sells out before I can update the site, I’ll credit you for the difference as soon as I can. Also, all sales are final, so make sure you really meant to order it. If you have any questions about colors or whether something goes with something else, I’m happy to take additional photos of fabric and yarn for you.
Please pass the word:
Please help me get the word out, tell your friends about the sale — the fabric is nearly all $3.50/yard, and I have lots that would be great for quilt backs or sashings or backgrounds!! Here’s some code you can copy and paste to your blog:

Suzanne’s Great Big Giveaway (and sale)
Updated: January 31, 2010: giveaway is now over, go here for the results.
Oh Suzanne, I’m glad you are not sad about closing the brick and mortar store. I once had a retail store (a Mail Boxes, Etc.). I was lucky enough to be able to sell it, but it was also one of the happiest days in my life when I was able to walk away and start a new life. I loved the people and missed them, but I didn’t miss many aspects of owning and operating a retail establishment. I work out of my home now and am very happy. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
Sue
Love to be part of the giveaway!
Good luck with you change of business,
Leona
Good to have decisions made and a plan of action. I will be happy to participate and post it on my blog.
Hugs – Terri
change is good for everyone! I admire your ability to follow your dreams and to hear your inner voice. Good luck with the next part of your journey.
I don’t have a blog so I can’t help you there. But I wanted to wish you well in your changeover. I’ll take a look and see if there’s some fabric I just have to have although I’m trying to shop only from stash these days.
I’ll post on my blog and will share with my guild members. Grinnell Fiberworks is closing the end of February and we all did a road trip over there on Friday. Hit the two stores in the Amanas as well. Not doing much for my stashbusting efforts….
I’m commenting, but I said it all already on the other blog post you made!!!! LOL
Now I’m off to shop and to post this to my blog as well!!!!
Good luck with the move! I’m off to shop!
I bet that this will make your life easier but I will miss seeing photos of your decorated shop window and of course, the snow report outside the window. LOL.
I am sure that your online store will continue to prosper.
SoSorry to hear you are closing the doors but as it’s always been said “when one door closes, another one opens” . Good luck
Thanks for the contest. Hope the on-line sales go great for you! Debbie in Alaska
Suzanne, I’m excited for you to be able to be, once again, where you most enjoy being (back home). I hope the sale and shop closing goes smoothly.
I’m off to shop!
I’m sorry to hear that you are closing your brick and mortar store, but am so happy that you are continuing to sell on line. Hope I am one of your winners.
Best Best of luck to you as you move things back home! Now, I need to check your website and do some shopping!!!
Well, I’m happy that you’re able to do what you need to do for your family’s sake without worrying about what others have to say about it. And, as you rightly point out, it is your business and no-one else’s. I hope everything works out and that you are able to continue your online shop in the form that suits you.
And most of all, enjoy your quilting and knitting!
BizzyLizzy
Does this mean you’ll have more time for quilting? I took your class over the summer and it was wonderful, but I’m thinking of selling my machine. Good luck with your new endeavor!
Good luck with the business change, Suzanne! It’s good to be able to make decisions and move forward, rather than spin your wheels!
Please include me in your drawing — I can always fit a few more fat quarters into my stash
Jeanne

I’ve been trying to leave a comment but it won’t let me write anything in the message box!
I’mI’m sorry to hear you are closing your store but I’m sure you have a good reason for it. Atleast you gave it a try, more than some of us would.
Good Luck in all you endeavors! I love following your work!! Enjoy being at home more again

I
So sorry the store is closing, but so happy that you have discovered the path YOU want to take, rather than plugging along at something that does not meet your (or your family’s) needs now.
Thanks for your generous givve-away!
Kat
I hear about your blog from the Fabric Obsessor. I like it and I LOVE your fabric prices. The Prizes would be nice, too. I can only DREAM about 100-fat quarters. Wow! But, all of the offers are very generous. Thanks.
Hope you are moving on to better things! thanks for the giveaway!
WishiWishing you nothing but the best!
I understand the need for change. I have to move my furniture at least twice a year, or I go batty. I’ve been to the shop, and there are some cool fabrics (that I don’t need, but want) so I’m posting a link on my blog so others can enjoy as well.
Hopefully this will be for the best for you and your family. I’d be happy to help you clear out some of those fat quarters
I I ld I do understand your need to give the shop a try, a few years back I just had a need to work in a fabric store, it wasn’t long when I realized how wonderful it was to stay home!!
Good luck in the future
I I am so sorry things did not work out the way you planned but I’m sure this will be a wonderful new start and look forward to what will come! Best wished.
Suzanne, I can totally understand you closing the brick and mortar store. Tommy and I have been there, done that. The experience was great at the time, but we were ready for changes. I like working at home much better. I’m glad that you’ve made a decision and are moving on with it. That’s the best way.
It’s always sad to see a quilt shop close. But you always seem to have so many things on your plate, it doesn’t surprise me. Sometimes you just need to take a deep breath, step back and simplify.
WWhat an awesome give-a-way. I would be sooo excited to win the fat quarters. I have become a follower
I posted about your sale and giveaway on my blog,,, Ihope you get lots and lots of sales… I hate to see any shop have to close but sometimes it’s necessary.
Beth in Dallas
( who really wants to win the fat quarters!)
What a generous giveaway–I’ve never won one but I am a new quilter and I just keep entering and hoping! Good luck to you and thanks!
I wish you the best and hope that you enjoy the extra time you will have once the brick and mortor store is closed. I enjoyed my shop when it was open, but am so glad I made the decision to close.
I’ve al’ve already been shopping – what wonderful buys. Since I’ve just recently “found” you, I’m glad your on-line shop is staying open.
Good Luck in your new endeavors! Thanks for the opportunity.
